    would be tidy and safe.

Anything Abe has to do with this boat is sitting in it catching fish or drinking a few cans.
If I let him anywhere near it it with tools the friggin thing would end up with a water blaster that could cut holes in the aluminum and have a 10 burner BBQ taking up all the deck space.
Besides I always leave Abe owing him a years wages on firearms.

Well how are most deck wash intakes run then?
It is why I am asking. Won't worry about one if there is not an asthetic way to do so

Brother smacked a hole through the bottom of the hull at the back on his 7.6m. Got the pump inside the transom wall.

That's a way to easy and cheap solution.
    Probably the smartest but.
Actually they will shift more water faster should the inevitable happen. They make bilge pumps look slow

Kinda double duty and no maintenance woes either

Fuck it I will just get a good scrubbing brush and a bucket.
Put the time and money into a capstan for pots and anchor.
Didn't think it would be such a hassle or risk.
Mate had one on his boat and I liked the idea cleaning shit up at the flick of a switch.

Cheers mate. I am not an as experienced boaty as some of these fellas so they made sense to me. Why have something that can fail and sink you I didn't give the safety implications a second thought.
I have left the bungs out of my Jetboat enough times to know I could have a another hole in the boat fuck me up and I never want anything bad to happen with my kids in it.
Even though I am sure they could swim the 20m from shore I would be anchored up anyway 😂

I have a deck wash pump on my seaforce fisherman 600 as standard. It takes the water from the very bottom of the v hull

    Hey R93.
Buy a skin fitting with a thread on the inboard end, so you can fit a ball valve or isolation valve on the inboard side. That way if you have any issues with leaking or need to maintain your pump or deck wash system you can safely isolate it. It is important to make the valve as close to the side of the hull as possible. (Don't have a threaded skin fitting sticking 200mm into the vessel and then fit a isolation valve. One of yr porky mates might stomp on it and snap it off then yr rooted) If you are running a ali or tinny you will need to think about what type of materials. (Dissimilar metals will create electrolysis which can waste away metal components.)
Get a hole saw and drill a hole below the water line at rest. A good spot is on the transom, if you have problems and you cant seal the hole of because you broke the skin fitting for example, you can bury the hammers and it will venture and suck out any water. You can also reach over the back and stuff it with a bung, rags, carrot or what ever to seal it up.
Mount your pump below or as close to the water line as possible to give you a positive head pressure (wont need priming). A smart thing to do is to also add a non return valve to the discharge side of the pump, then run yr deck hose off that. This will prevent the hose working like a syphon when you leave it laying in the bottom of the boat or over the side of the boat and submersed. (You can fill yr boat up if the deck hose siphons water back inboard if you have a hole in your suction line to yr pump and flood the boat.
Pick a braided or ridged hose section for the suction side of the pump so it wont collapse when the pump cranks up. Double hose clamp all your hose tails.

I've fitted these to a number of ali and fiberglass boats with no hassles or issues:
Skin fittings: Skin Fittings Threaded | TRUDESIGN
Ball Valves: Manual Ball Valve | TRUDESIGN
Non return valves:Non Return Valves | TRUDESIGN
Hose Tails: Aquavalve Tails | TRUDESIGN
All of the True Design range is spun plastic which is a lot better for rough service than PVC or ABS which can crack from vibration, pounding and ham fisted fishermen.

You could use the same pump as a bilge pump if you fitted a three way valve to the suction side of the pump and had 1 inlet for sea water, 2nd inlet for bilge strainer. But you would end up with a contaminated discharge hose if you where sucking up fuel or oil etc.
3 way valve: Connector 3 Way | TRUDESIGN
