Toyota have really missed the boat with the Hilux, especially the GR, should of stuck a V6 in it.
Should have, but really can't now with emissions...

Ford ranger 2 litre bi turbo

I’ve have had the pimp version with the v6 for about 18 months now. There a nice ride, gear box is good, build quality seem comparable with the other Thai made utes. Fuel consumption and ride is way better than my 3.0 l , 120 Prado but it has a bar and winch with a lift.

    Outselling Toyota over here also.

I found the seats nasty, the suspension and brake up grade was good, the same interior they been using for 9 year is very dated, wasn't worth the 86k imo, and I was hilux for life.

Mother in law bought a 2023 Wildtrack last year from Avon City Ford, 2l DT, it's a bloody nice truck and goes extremely well, all the flash bits etc. Gets up to 100kmph in no time and handles the mountains between Shitshit & Hoki with ease.

It's a big vehicle...lot bigger than her last one which was a Nissan Navara double cab that she'd had for 20+ years but the ole 2.7 diesel turbo was about stuffed. Mumsie loves the Ranger.

Extremely fuel efficient but gutless for towing

Yes it is, as i said somewhere it really is a poor idea, poorly executed. Some of these are giving horrendous issues overseas in the Transits and the like where they have been running them for a bit longer than the rangers.

I've been a hilux man for 25 odd years. When Ford brought out that V6 i took one for a spin ended up getting the Sport model one but have since gone back to the Hilux. What I liked about the ford was the technolgy, ride and the torq and power from that V6 but in the end i found it too big body wise and prefer to turn technolgy on if I want it not having to turn it off all the time and I was getting a sore back from the seat even though it had more adjustment and Im happy as back in an SR5.

    Yep
My preference is for two rows of four, side by side.
I have a petrol and a diesel. Diesel has a turbo and is manual. Prefer towing with that.
Ten miles to the gallon in the petrol stings a bit.
