That’s interesting mate.....why can you not “re-chip” the system......or is that not possible.....I rechiped my dodge, still kept the EGR,and as you say performance goes through the roof.....used a smarty 4,which re-cinks the computer from stock to one of 4 modes....One including towing...

Yeah the Raptor's a grouse looking truck alright. I'd say it will be around the 80k mark.

To be honest that 2lt engine puts me off a bit, a little motor no matter how efficient pushing a heavy wagon doesn't really goof me off ( even though, face it, you ain't guna buy one of these for towing ) but 160kw is shit, fark I want 180 -200 or a decent petrol & really make the farken thing go!

PS - Modern ute's aren't like the old luxe's & built to last forever, trucks now days are like European cars - have so many puters & electric friggen things, load em up with dust'n'shit & they're be stuffed after 10years.
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Im not sure what the newer ones are like but had a 2012 amarok as a farm truck and it was a useless piece of shit for anything other than driving to town

I’ve heard the amarocks weren’t good as farm trucks. They leave there parts all over the paddocks.
I used to work for Ford in the early 2000’s as a truck mechanic on F150 and 250 and couriers. The couriers were only 2.5 then and were classed as pretty grunty back then all 70 kw. Now were at 150kw. Back then the F150 Had a FX4 version that had updated rancho shocks and sway bars to make them the off roader. Which no one ever used them for.
My brother who has the current ranger keeps asking me what I think of this new raptor. He’s a builder. My answer is it is not the vehicle for you. You drive on the road and tow trailers about. Apart from looking cool and being something that will be somewhat limited amount sold. It would be $25000 wasted.
Now if you were hunting regularly and bashing up river beds then one of these would be an amazing thing.
I still prefer the raw power of my 7.3l v8 diesel in my f250. Had them for so long it’s hard to get used to a Korean veh

The Ranger will still come in a 3.2 for the time being . The Raptor is set up as a sports truck. Completely differnet suspension etc. We have taken orders for 8 so far.

Ford Ranger Raptor - anyone else thinking a 2L diesel is a bad idea

Think I saw them as being RRP @$89K.

I thought diesel was dead anyway and GDI petrol engines were the new high efficiency deal?
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Amaroks are only good for being stuck in traffic jams. They come with skinny jeans, pointy shoes, underlip mo's and penis reduction surgery as standard

I would go the vw V6 at that price

new model coming out soon at $65 - 70k

Ford dropped the ball on this one, they should have imported one of the motors from the states they have a bunch of options over there and really would have made i special 130kw of poos

Isn't this for the American market as well as they've been crying out for the ranger for a while now and they want fuel economy as much as anything as gas is getting pricey here haha.

Also if they dropped the v6 from the f150 etc it'll be too close in competition for them.

The 450hp V6 from the F150 Raptor sitting in a Ranger Raptor would be something to behold. A proper sports truck indeed.
