    Even more of a can of worms, by a Landrover!

    My missus has had a 300tdi Defender for the last 4 years, goes mint and hasn't broken down in her. Only problem with it is she drives a more manly car than what I do.

    Yeah, the Safari/Patrol have pretty bulletproof engine and running gear. Incredibly reliable but had the problem with the roof join in the gutter causing rust when the sealer broke.

    Yeah, nah I wouldn't own a 10+ year old 4.2d non turbo these days unless I was never going to tow. Even then its borderline.
    My LWB TD42+t with 33"s and a 2" lift uses less gas then my low mileage td42 N/A shorty on standard tires and height.
    You can sit in 5th at 2100rpm and have power to go up hills with out changing down, just a slight press of the throttle and you sail up them.
