Thread: Ideas on hilux Ln106 repower

My mate has just spent a heap of money on his double cab tidying it up with a flash paint job new gearbox and a full set of old man emu springs and shocks only to go to the naki and have the motor crap itself,Bugger!
I thought i would pick the brains of you fellas on ideas of repowers to a v6 holden or perhaps a lexus.
Is there any body in the naki that is competent to have a go at this!

If you are going to put the holden V6 in then get the auto at the same time. I had that setup and it was a pleasure to drive (for a hilux).

The Lexus motors drink gas like no ones business. Even with 33 inch tyres.
All of the guys I know that had them were glad to sell them off.
I m with barefoot on the V6 .

Dunno, its been done. Only issue i can see being length.

But the money they go for is ridiculous.
That and its not worth owning a oil burner anymore so might as well change to a modern petrol.

Mates brother has a lexus in a 2.4 shape one.
Recons its pretty bloody good on the gas.
Smokes the tires no worrys and sounds cool too.
Pretty common conversion now and adapter plates etc should be easy to find.

Yeah it's all almost bolt on kits to drop them in now it's been done so many times.

With you on the 2JZ, not sure about for an off roader though?

There is one in a local modded cruiser. Goes bloody well and sounds awesome, tho owner admits a bit more low down would be nice.

i was quoted $500 to have a 1kz and box mounted in my ln106, i decided to turbo the 2.8 - ive got all the bits but havnt been fucked to change it over yet

3RZ + Turbo

if your thinking about a holden 6 go with a efi 304 V8. It will use the same amount or even less fuel and be that much better when performance is required. Resale will be better i expect to.

There are no cheap options thats for sure!
