    Jetboat hunting missions

Anyone that’s keen on doing some overnight Boating hunting trips with a good boat ?

I run 3.3 Attack with Yamaha four stroke that’s got plastic as well on the bottom and are always keen to get out on the weekends . Central north island based but lucky to have a work ute with fuel card or private ute so pretty flexible.
Usually hunt with my dog .

If I was up that way I would take up the offer but I'm not.

Bunji would be ideal ,he might get you into parachuting and enduro racing ,plus the endless stories of catching water buffalo.

...Or jump in with me when you run out of water, and continue on an hour or so further upstream

great photo Xr , that's pretty skinny water . I'd be doing well to get down it in the packraft without pushing, the inflatable Jets are pretty awesome . I must come and have a brew with you one day. Are you moving to the relocated house or isn't that your paddock? cheers Ben

I'm curious...... what're the rules, and who makes them with respect to boating on rivers? Is the default that you're allowed to powerboat rivers unless a rule prevents that, or is it that you're not allowed to unless there is provision ( presumably to exceed 5 knots within 200m of shore) to do so?

    Gidday,

The house is just a wee project of the Wifes. Keeps her out of trouble. May do Air B@B or some such, or I may be able to tempt my son back from Germany with something they could never have over there. Peace and quiet and 10 acres of grass.

Just drop us a line and come on over for a yak. Or bring the two wheeler over and try the jumps

All regions are different and depend on local regulations , Jetboat NZ is the main driver behind this info nationally and have just advertised for someone to recheck all their info regarding uplifting of knots etc. Common sense should be prevalent too , if your swimming in a river and a I go tearing past like a fuckwit your welcome to punch me in the nose. I mostly come across rafters or kayakers where I usually boat and will move out of the way and let them pass. JBNZ has a app that you can log when you've boated a river which helps give them some idea of the usage etc.

    Gidday,

That photo is about 8 kms downstream of the upper limit for that river. Last summer there was bugger all water so you would have been doing exceptionally well to get up there.
Above that uplifting limit you are only permitted to do 5 knots (ground speed), so with the water speed taken into account I can legally plane, as those boats plane very easily. Coming downstream, well turn the outboard off and I am a raft

That 5 knots within 200m of the shore is a 120 year old maritime regulation that hasn't really caught up with modern day. Some people complain about the noise, but conveniently forget about their horrendously noisy helicopter that dropped them into that remote spot to fish...and will be back shortly to pick them back up. Whose noise takes precedence??? The well heeled fly fisherman who burnt 600L of JetA1 to get there and back, or my 20L for the days outing???

haha ive just realised my age and recently downgraded to girls bike that you'd like , had a great weekend down the Wairarapa a fortnight ago on it . We ride all old school handcut enduro tracks through scrub , theres plenty on it. The 300 was awesome but I struggled on two big steep hills with it , I was running a super soft old mousse and didn't think it could hammer up in second like the 450 did. Otherwise it was awesome.

Yeah, I've done some riding with Fish's group on those tracks. Pretty gnarly terrain. Just the sort of riding that suits 3 hundy's
