I'd take any one of my series landrovers far more places than other standard trucks.

Iv also had far less problems than some of my hiluxes and landcruisers... Go figure...

It all seems to come down to lack of maintenance and abuse that determines parts failure.

The Discovery was a gamble but pretty rare in manual with the 300tdi - it also has really surprised me off rd.

Also at 6 foot 4 inches tall is one of the most comfortable trucks Iv been in ... I had to put the seat forward a bit...

Dunedin to Picton on Saturday in one stretch very impressive
The biggest headaches I've had with my Discovery was trying to fix other peoples "improvements", instead of buying a $10 part the previous owner decided to run his own wires here, there and everywhere, and he was certainly no autosparky!

Failing to fix mechanical, electrical and water tightness issues before the become headached is what seems to kill most vehicles.

Gearbox shit itself in my discovery and electrics in my wife's Freelander were dismal. Never ever again, but I put BMWs in the same never box, the ultimate driving machine? Yeah right!

The Freelander is actually not a landrover.

    It's a Honda CRV

Interesting the gear box and diffs have both let go in a number of my toyotas... However I don't think toyotas are crap in particular...

I think the bit I'm most surprised about with that photo, Doc, is that you got out and took a photo with it sitting there at that angle. Mind you I cannot see where it runs out to below. The seat would be well attached to my puckered cheeks.

Arsehole that little pod filter off of the rockercover and plumbback into the intake if you intend going deep enough to need a snorkle.

Yip It has gone since then, goes to the catch can on the water pump and back to the inlet, there is another (factory installed) one on the back of the other rocker cover that is now plumbed to the intake as well

I'd like to know how carefully the door was closed before the photo was taken.

My dad owned a series 3 so I've learned never to own one, but I also know how damn capable they are.

Borrowed a v8 manual disco while in WA once, lovely to drive. Dropped a slave cylinder about 800kms out of Norseman. There she sat for 3 weeks waiting for that one part. Got her home and then the clutch went being a range rover guy the owner blamed me for all its problems, told me that his truck knew I was a Japanese truck owner
