As I understand it, they're not a WOF issue when fitted to the roof for some reason. Might be classed as a worklight above there? Talk to your WOF guy first...

I'm sure they'll sort the rules soon enough to allow front bar mounting, the aussies have in most states and it sounds like we usually follow their lead on a lot of regs like that.

That would be fine. But the WOF itself is not a biggie for me as I need to be able to take them on and off as the roof rack will also be set ip to operate on my trailer.Mostly without lights but thinking about it now with lights could be handy in the future too.

To best of my knowledge, the old style bull bar mounted spot lights have no angle adjustment like normal headlights do, but remain legal for wof purposes.
I fail to see any difference for lightbars. They can be adjusted to aim low and switched independently of headlights.

It's to do with the wording of the regulations. I think that any lights on the front have to be in a 'matched pair' or similar. So more than a few WOF guys say that if you have just the one light bar, it doesn't fit the wording. But fine to have two round spots made up of multiple LEDs it seems.. Just a bit daft!
