That is my thinking on the power, even for a power chicken like me, especially going 2 smoke. I'm tempted to go for a conventional hull long boat but think the pontoon will be a better option for a light dinghy. Reading up on hull design I think I'll have the outside of the pontoons pointing down to create reverse chines for a softer ride and increased lift.

I would get it built before motor gets brought, doing the math on sheets doesn't mean crap when there's extra bits/ joints and strengthening plus most on the list above

Yeah I know but just add a bit to it, could happily lift my centre console and my jet before fit out then all the other shit adds up

I have a friend who works poly pipe and plastic welding all day every day.He has built a jet boat three pontoon boats (large ) and heaps of other stuff out of poly .His advice when we wanted to build one to replace our 4.2m inflatables was don't bother.Basically it would weigh three times as much as what we have.
