Well just dropped the coin on a Raymarine Axiom 12. Very exited should turn up either the end of this week or early next week.
Mikee it's all you fault if it's a bag of crap
Looks like it should do the business.

Right now for more time fishing, and less time working

Did you have to purchase transducer on top or was it included mate?

I'm more or less ignoring the whole thread in order to say that I reckon if you're in the market for a new sounder/chartplotter it's probably worth finding some way to have a go with whatever you're looking at buying first. The Furuno 1871 I have is good for picking up fish but the user interface is terrible and the chartplotter side is horrible. It may be a side effect of a lifetime of using Garmin GPS units but I don't like it, it's very non-intuitive and the instruction manual isn't very helpful as it doesn't explain what any of the non-intuitively named settings actually do. I can see schools of fish in ~200m of water with a P66 though so that's good

That's what I liked with the Raymarine. It looks very intuitive and you can drag and drop different screens ( sounder, plotter etc..) to have a variety of split screens with what you want on it. Like a smart phone you can swipe left, right etc... to bring up different functions.
I have a Garmin too Gimp but with the buttons on it you have to go through multiple screens to get to what you want.

I looked at one but it didn't include transducer or at least it wasn't listed.

Bit flash for me and what I do so bought a Lowrance Elite-9 Ti2 a wee while ago.
    Haven't installed it yet.

Yeah ya gotta make sure of what's in the box for sure. This one comes with a 600W transducer which will be fine for the shallow water I fish ( less than 100m).
