Might have had something in the drain flap in the bottom of the air filter housing too, it literally only requires a teaspoon or two of water to bust crap up in these modern diesels. Mate's ex drowned a fairly new ranger in flooding, was trying to rescue some animals and got told it will be right these things are good for 700mm. That one wasn't so it isn't just a Prado thing, could be a bit of luck of the draw sometimes.
Hmm I thort a ranger would handle 700mms of water quietly.
Yeah, but nah not in this case. I don't know any more but I would put forward the guess that the pilot might not have used the correct techniques just quietly. The mate wasn't that flattering when describing her driving ability and suggested that she would have been better off staying in the mall carpark with some pet food and just waited for the things to get hungry.
The Mrs has a 2003 model 4l petrol. A bit thirsty but very nice to drive, plenty of power when you need it and has been very reliable.wont be in a hurry to get rid of it. 265kms with no issues
I have a 2008 VX V6 with 320,000k....and am very happy with it. Can run on either 91 or 95 as the computer will adjust accordingly.
I tow and go off road. (Have fitted snorkle, 2 inch lift and diff breathers...
The official fuel use is 14.2L/100k and I get 12 on the open road (not towing)...179KW so good overtaking power...
Hope this helps.
