EV's are horrid. tesla doubly so
EV's are horrid. tesla doubly so
Abit off topic...
I was told NZ Toyota waiting for the new emissions law to kick in before deciding to hold or take new orders for the 70's series,
hate to think how much ute tax or ruc that beast going to cost.
@McNotty Dont suppose you have the stats for putting out said fires...From what I understand EV fires are extremely diffcult to quell and CE fires are relatively straight forward in comparison....Dont get me wrong; it is best to avoid fire in both- no question...but we hear that fire crews essentialy wait for EVs to finnish burning and work on stopping any fire spreading rather than actuually extinguish the fire like they would with CE....
Intelligence has its limits, but it appears that Stupidity knows no bounds......
to give you an idea, average ICE fire is 3000 gallons of water
EV's about 20,000.
the water is not put on to extinguish the fire its to try to cool the remaining battery pack down so far that it doesnt ignite from the ones already burning ( think string of "double happies")
but then the vehicle must be monitored for 3 days afterwards just in case it re-ignites.
i repair allot of stuff with lithium batteries, the main issue i find is that they are trying to fit as much power into the same space and to hell with any safety measures. i had to recharge a dead flat battery about the size of a dolphin torch battery. i put it in a cast pot on my back lawn while charging. it ignited and burnt the grass underneath as it got the pot so hot.
as for the RU increases its more BS tax grabbing and virtue signalling
considering the present political volatility and impending elections price increases would be like wheeling a full casket into a wedding methinks?a vote killer150%
And just wait until they have a critical mass of EVs out there. Once they get to a certain point they will say yup, got enough to keep the greenness mildly happy and then wack on RUCs for them too.
There is no way they will miss out on taxing them eventually
With the state off the roads around Gisborne at the moment i was hoping for a %100 discount.
For the last couple weeks i have been in 4wd getting up my road before this l week ends rain event. If you try to drive through the pot holes i bottom out in a 4wd ute. A standard car can not make it up my road
