Extreme fitness and perfect technique. As soon as you start fighting the bike or the terrain you are using energy needlessly.

Off Topic, I see KTM has filed for bankruptcy. I am sure they will continue in some shape or form. Too many bikes out there for it to flop completely.

Yeah mate….. when you see “class” on the track ..it’s about “awe” in what they do…. Those blokes live in another world…. My youngest fulla (28)qualifies in sone of those races(to compete)…. Loves to push them, but they leave him in the dust(his words)… more just ,admiration on his part…..

…. Bottom line …. BLOODY FUN!!!

A few years ago (2017) I took a mate's son out with us to recce some new trails for some rides I used to run. He was finishing in the top half dozen in the NZ GNCC rounds back then. on the 12km trip into the hut he left us in his dust. Got to the hut a full 5 min ahead of us. BUT we then headed off into steep untracked dracophyllum and tussock country. A lot of it 30 degrees or more. Its country you have to know how to attack. He had his bike boiling, digging holes, tussock wound around the chain, cursing and swearing Meanwhile, my mate and I quietly puttered along, pivot turning around the big tussock clumps, jumping the small stuff. In his element he smoked us. In our element he found it hard going. He was not the personality type to enjoy having a (then) 57 year old get to the bottom of the hill before him
