    Spray painting treated ply

Decided to turn my dog trailer / quad /covered rubbish trailer . Have got spray enamel and want to paint the ply to keep it good . What undercoat /sealer should I use ?

If it still stinks of treatment leave it for a couple of weeks then a couple of coats of one of those self printing acrylics like solagard or x10. They seem to last better than enamel on ply.

If you've got a compressor set-up then oil-based primer thinned with turps say 30% and two thin coats is better than one thick coat. Dulux or Resene.

Also thin your topcoat enamel likewise

Airless sprayers are good for waterbased paints, compressor type ones for enamel and oil-based is the general rule

Or just roller the ply with straight oil-based primer with one of those disposable roller kits, about $9 at Bunnings

Do it properly, do it once : seal with a penetrating epoxy sealer such as Pre Prime 168 or similar , then apply an industrial epoxy or urethane - ignore the house painting mob advice and or products, do it right, and you will have a maintenance free coating system that will outlast you. Paint the whole trailer with the same system while you are at it.
