Dundee
This train passes close by my place and blows his whistle every time.
Pisses some of the neighbours off but I like it.
Mostly because it pisses some of the neighbours off.
Awesome to see it at full steam too.
I kept pace with it from Hastings to Paki Paki , got up to 70kph too.
Cheers
Pete
When it was time for my folks to meet Mrs gadgets folks I booked a few tickets for everyone on a winter steam excursion to Arthurs Pass and back. Pretty sure they've had that loci down here hauling the trains. Been on a few.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
Thanks for that Dundee, they are great to see in action.
There is a crowd down upper hutt way trying to put the tracks back in for the Old Rimutaka Incline.
I think Hutt Valley NZDA opposed it as the old Incline track is the road to the range. I cant confirm that though, I know the rail guys want a track next to the line to accomodate the range i think? Ive got to look into it more.
the main guy behind these is Ian Wells. here in CHCH the "mainline steam "shed is behind the hamilton jet factory in lunns rd.It s the home of the engine used for arthurs pass excursions, plus KA968 which is undergoing full restroration.my eldest lad is a train fanatic so has psent a bit of time down there helping out.up close&personal theyre a big beastie those steam trains(take a bloody lot of polishing too!!
