    Thanks Zimmerman. I worked through the blokes standard operating procedure for new technology:
    1. Try it out and see what happens. (nothing)
    2. Think about it and try again. (none the wiser)
    3. Ask someone else who might know. (forum)
    4. RTFM (what do you know ? my manual had identical advice to yours once I gave up and read it).

    My understanding now is that this piece of cleverness eases off power (or braking) when a wheel starts to lose traction. Great if its temporary like hydroplaning on a puddle of water. Not so good if its persistent like a wheel spinning in mud or perhaps on gravel the car knobbles itself trying to go more and more wussy. Once it stops altogether it needs to be told firmly to get a grip with whatever it can. This is just theory but there are some things better not learnt by hard knocks.
