Just check plugs, chances are if starts good they are fine. Cheap and easy to do yourself.

Think economy gains are more seen in na vehicles as turbo will(should)suck enough air unless filter seriously blocked.
Still a good idea tho for cleaner air and risk of hydraulicing in crossings.

Water pump too while its there , and cambelt if it has one and is anywhere near due. ... having said that , my mechanic is a mate so when my land cruiser gets a birthday atleast I know im not getting tucked ..
If you find a good mechanic look after him and see he never goes thirsty ..

I have a noticeable improvement. Can't remember if I changed the filter at the same time or not?

Gimps is 1kz too if its the same one he bought last year.

Mines now up to 290,000 km's. Original radiator, engine, head, never been opened, never had a new radiator, snorkel, or big bore exhaust. Driven hard too. 1kzte manual surf. Probably been wound back upon importing too like every other truck, so could be double that. Ive now heard of 1kz's going round the clock on the original head.

If I've said it too much stop me, but its all about oil and water.

Keep on top of the servicing (which you are) and an even keener eye on the gauges. If something is slightly out of normal, find out why.

When I bought mine some a few mechanics told me the heads always go, blah blah blah. This is the lowest KM vehicle ive ever owned and I always service them the same - 5000km or if something appears sus, whichever comes sooner.

Drive it as hard as you like, but keep an eye on those gauges and services, and you will have a long and happy run

    Chris

Cam you'll find that a turbo only sucks a tad harder than a non turbo, with diesels not running any vacuum the difference is far less than on a petrol.

Anyone seen one of those muppets who runs the snorkel backwards?

    Doesn't that grind your gears?

I always used to run mine backwards off road(don't have one on the cruiser). Can completely fill an air box with gorse or broom flowers in 20 min driving up here!
Also saved me a hydraulicd engine a couple of times.
