Mate bought a new trailer off Trademe. Looked great, caged sides, fully galv. Was meant to be NZ made, but I reckon it's Chinese just bolted together in NZ.
2 years on rust is starting to come through, looks heaps worse than my 20 year old NZ built trailer (both are stored outside).
If you buy a decent genuine NZ made one you'll have it for decades and only ever have to replace wheel bearings and tyres.

You get what you pay for.

Galvanising on trailers I have seen from the north island is ten times as good as done in chch I am afraid. (or anything else for that matter)

I have a Trayla with full galvanized crate in like new condition that I'll sell. It's only been used to take a few loads of gardening, grass clippings etc. to the dump up the road. I bought it because I didn't have a ute. But I've since bought a Hilux off Brads and haven't used it since. Extremely well made Kiwi trailer . Pretty sure it's 7' 6" Foot Long - 2286mm 4ft 6" Wide - 1370mm. It was a special order that is an extra 6" long. I'll take a pic tomorrow. *Trayla Trailers :: *Custom Trailers, Domestic Trailer, Trailers For Sale, Trailer Makers, Trailer Manufacturers in New Zealand
