Thread: Tyres Again...not sure what I want

    I had maxxis buckshots on my last hilux and was getting 40000km plus out of a set with a lot of road use. Got bridgestone a/t on my current hilux and will not be buying them again . paid 600 for a set but cant imagine getting 40000km from them. More like a road tyre.

    Hankook RF10 in the 10 ply tahr....depending on your size.
    its what im running with , fantastic tyre.

    tyreshoponline lost Hercules as the company didn't like them selling direct , I can sort them though.

    @berg243. mine were horrific, owned the car 2 weeks before getting some goodyear F1 tyres on it.
    i put the gt's on trademe with the listing that they were unsuitable for serious horsepower and they tended to break loose. guy buys them and tells me "yeah thats what i want them for", he loaded them in his car and then left 2 long trails of rubber down the road when he left.

    Thanks for the suggestions and advice everyone.

    I decided to go for the Hercules Terra Trac deep tread.

    I received some very good advice from a forum member about going up a size to re-calibrate my speedo to keep my Road Charges down.
    Also got a good deal from the same forum member so its well worth hanging around here.

    Anyone tried the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac?
    Supposedly an AT, but looks like it has some bite!

    If I'm correct it will bring it up from under speed to near dead on. I will check it with my GPS. But I agree that even if its exact I will need to be careful because these modern Utes sure can sneak the speed up without you noticing.

    But your economy will drop cause you won't get the same mileage per litre

    so by lowering your revs your fuel economy will go up??

    Coming up to 20k on a set. Wearing very well, little road noise for the open pattern and seem fine on wet highways though I dont push things. Best off road A/T Iv used.
    FWIW I stepped to 265/65/17s on the Triton and the speedo now reads within 1kph comparing it to 3 diferent GPS units.

    Thats what I was kinda hoping to hear - they're not a cheap tyre and if I'm gonna pay out $1750-ish on 4 tyres, I want to know they're good!
    Currently got Goodride MTs on it and they're rather noisy and seems a waste of nearly new MT's to be on Auckland roads.
