I've never bid before can it be done online?
Cheers Antz
Na mate postal bids or be there in person! If you would like and are ANZ, I could possibly bid for you ad get your input in between auctions via txt or phone call if you like? Or you can get SAI guns to send you a catalogue for $20+ shipping and return a postal bid. But the only downside is if you put multiple bids on auctions, you may spend more than you want by buying quite a few lots hahaha. @Antz
You don't need to buy a catalog to do a Postal. The form for Postal Bidding is available at the very end of the online catalog. The link to that is in post #5.
Hmmm didn't realise you could use the postal bid service via the PDF
Postal bidding is a pain as you have to only put bids in that you could afford to win them all, unlike being there in person where you can roll unused funds from a lost auction into ones later in the day.
That said, I tend to do postal bids more than being there in person so it obviously works for them

For me postals are the usual way. Driving down to Wellington to Ted's for example with an item of interest on the start of day and a second item mid way thru day 2 is just not an option.
The mistake I make with postals is generally I don't bid high enough which is stupid considering if I factored in the savings from not attending (travel, accomodation, my time) I could safely raise my limits on my postals.
Though I want a couple of goodies in this auction, and I will attend and bid, the speed at which an auction lot starts and finishes is minimal, last time a few lots were over before I had the courage to put my hand up... lol...
Fingers crossed I come away with something on my 'Want list' this time...
I'm happy. Got what I wanted for less than my max plus didn't even need to be there thanks to a mate.
Apparently not as crowded as usual.
I went to my planned max on 3 items, and in all cases was outbid by one... i.e. it was down to me and another each time.
Once you add the auction fees & gst onto that, the prices were regarded as high I thought...
Funny thing is I probably would have paid the hammer price, but you never know when to stop, so I controlled myself to my self imposed limits... oh well.. next time...
