Pretty sure I will see you come Sunday morning. Looking forward to it.

Its been a great weekend with weather olaying the game.
Pita the host took out the shot gun comp with a perfect score.
Taihape won the overall average by a very small margin with taihape shooter bernard winning the highest points of 68 out of a 75 possible.
Robbie from the bay took out the open sight comp with some great shooting.
Good to meet kiwi james and ginga of the forum and put names to faces.
A great weekend topped of with our patron Kevin cutting the 60th aniversary cake and him mentioning that he started shooting at the taruarau in 1968.
A big thank you to all involved.
    See ya next year!

Taruarau River on the Gentle Annie. It's a competition between Taihape and the former Hawkes Bay NZDA's. It used to also be with the Navy? IIRC.
I'd be sure visitors would be welcome but could not compete? I'd need confirmation on that.

Going past tomorrow morning. Don't shoot over the bridge. Tight groups.

Am a member of the Hastings NZDA, do you have to qualify for this shoot?

    @Boar Freak

    Nope

Hawkes Bay could do with all the help its can get at the moment.

Just turn up, listen to and obey the Range Officers commands and always point the pointy end of your rifle in a safe direction at all times.

Oh and it helps if you can hit the barn door broadside too, .......................... but it's not a prerequisite or even a requirement, although it will help.

    Cheers
    Pete

Only qualification is you are a member of the respective club, Taihape or Bay club Hast/Npr. Geust are normally welcome though, ask a club member first.
Generally held on the first weekend of Nov but was the second this year due to RWC and targa rally being on the first wknd.

    Thanks Pete,

What are the shooting ranges (scoped/open sights)?

Scoped Centerfire Rifle, target is deer sized @100m, two sighters from prone position which the shooter can elect to keep once preliminary scored, Then 5 shots prone (or the balance of five if one or both sighters were elected to be kept), five shots sitting or kneeling and five shots standing.

All of the respective clubs members scores are totalled and averaged.

Highest Average Club Score wins the Trophy.

Shooters can also win accolades for the highest individual score.

Also Napier Branch will hold a practise shoot a weekend or two before the comp.

    Cheers
    Pete
