That's the two 'old farts' beds in the cottage accounted for now

You and Barry the hunter. May pay to bring ear muffs for a good nights sleep

I was thinking about asking for a spot in the cottage but it might be safer to bring the tent

The weather isn't going to be like the whole week has been (was perfect here), so we will have the Curtain sider down next to the firepit, and @Woody is bringing his big tarp over. So there will be plenty of shelter if the forecast drizzle hits us at 4pm.
@shift14 shot enough hares last night to feed everyone, so I'll have to drag out the BIG Potjie pot

The good thing is there is no wind

Yep, was great to put some faces to names. Good food, great company and ripping yarns

And yep, the weather forecast was, as usual, waay off the mark. Only a wee bit of drizzle to keep the sparks down.

Yep. Good times had by all. Gummint and Co' got severely thrashed, scores of deer, pigs, pheasants and ducks bagged, good dogs remembered, spectacular bike and truck mishaps recalled and engineering design complexities explained, sawmills, chaInsaws, rigging sytems and cookers, to mention nust a few pf the subjects discussed all with the benifit of past hands- on pra tical experience. We need to create an xr500 party before the next elections I reckon

Sorry I couldn't make it. Meeting the fourm guys would have been really good. Glad it went well but it was probably destined to anyway. Hopefully there will be a "next one" that I can get to.
Thanks to Simon for hosting this gathering.

Thanks XR500 for your hospitality, efforts in venue preparation, and allowing radical discussion on just how pathetically useless those in authority over the Waikato River (and other such matters) truly are. While many of us bemoaned and ridiculed the powers that be, old mate Woody was in full turbo charged flight and soared like a Phoenix above us mere mortals.

you guys sound too onto it to be politicians.... after all you even organized a successful get together and made it happen without pure incompetency and wasteful spending
