That's the two 'old farts' beds in the cottage accounted for now
You and Barry the hunter. May pay to bring ear muffs for a good nights sleep

2 sets of earplugs, nose & ears.
can't do much about the taste though
Hope the weather behaves and you guys enjoy the weekend i was planing on heading down to see my old mate in Taumarunui and drop in to say hi before headiing back to hospital on the 17th for a bone graft on my broken femor but I need to destock my place before that happens witch is this sunday so not going to make it BUGGER
The weather isn't going to be like the whole week has been (was perfect here), so we will have the Curtain sider down next to the firepit, and @Woody is bringing his big tarp over. So there will be plenty of shelter if the forecast drizzle hits us at 4pm.
@shift14 shot enough hares last night to feed everyone, so I'll have to drag out the BIG Potjie pot
The good thing is there is no wind

All the best lads.
Hope the weather is kind to you.
Left some venny with Rushy to put on the plate.

Thanks for putting this on XR, it was great to meet the guys - and thecwrather was a lot better than anticipated.
Yep, was great to put some faces to names. Good food, great company and ripping yarns
And yep, the weather forecast was, as usual, waay off the mark. Only a wee bit of drizzle to keep the sparks down.
Yep. Good times had by all. Gummint and Co' got severely thrashed, scores of deer, pigs, pheasants and ducks bagged, good dogs remembered, spectacular bike and truck mishaps recalled and engineering design complexities explained, sawmills, chaInsaws, rigging sytems and cookers, to mention nust a few pf the subjects discussed all with the benifit of past hands- on pra tical experience. We need to create an xr500 party before the next elections I reckon

Sorry I couldn't make it. Meeting the fourm guys would have been really good. Glad it went well but it was probably destined to anyway. Hopefully there will be a "next one" that I can get to.
Thanks to Simon for hosting this gathering.
Thanks for hosting us Simon, and everyone that turned up, great to finally put faces to the names.
Thanks XR500 for your hospitality, efforts in venue preparation, and allowing radical discussion on just how pathetically useless those in authority over the Waikato River (and other such matters) truly are. While many of us bemoaned and ridiculed the powers that be, old mate Woody was in full turbo charged flight and soared like a Phoenix above us mere mortals.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
Anyone recognise any of this stuff???
I know who owns the lightweight triangular plate and spork. The rest is up for auction...
