    VIDEO of Auckland Gong shoot

Thanks to all that attended this shoot and mad it an enjoyable day for all . Once again thanks to Matt Ryan and friends for setting all targets up and bringing a quad to quickly service breakages as they happened in the field --that's 338lm for you. The Gunshed also for donating prizes for the competitors . Apologies to Dakota as someone didn't hand his card back to me to place him --all good fun though and hope you all enjoyed the day of camaraderie
Sorry about the filthy video lens -old and growing a garden inside it.

Brilliant El B. It was a great day
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

    Gidday ELb
looks like you had a good day for it. Just wondering what you had your plates out at and what what was the moa were you making the plate sizes as it is interesting as we had our shoot on sunday and were using between 1.25 and 1.5 out to 890yds. we had a good turn out with a really shitty day at 2500 feet.there was some brilliant shooting with the 6.5s taking the top prizes.
definitley the boys who had done their homework had a good day and the rest of us fairly average.
The standard of shooting has really improved from our first one three years ago with 5 or 6 of the club and friends very close
So all good, I will have to get my shit together and get a forum one up and going in the spring probably in Ohakune
    Cheers Andy

Sounds like we could have a comp of the regions have a shoot out against each other ?? Auckland -Rotorua and you Potato"Ohakune" boys LOL

I have a couple of ideas, but they dont use the long range - more geared to speed stuff... I dont know if ppl are more inclined for LR or not

I'm so gutted I had to head home so early (found out Gary needed to be back just as I started thinking about that venison)

I'm still somewhat of a new centrefire shooter so I made a few laughable mistakes - the biggest being a rather large barrel clean I stupidly went and did a few days before. Next year I'm going to just clean out the carbon and leave the bore polish alone. For those of you who umm'd and agh'd about coming, there is always next year but I personally found I learned heaps just from watching everyone else. Very challenging course that no shooter found too easy (none that I spoke to haha)

If anyone else is thinking of doing one of these - count me in! Had a ball
    - Tim

p.s Did anyone punish that last 800m gong? Hope somebody blew that thing off its hinges HAHA. I had NFI on that one

Yeah I think Nibblet's buddy got the 800m one... not sure what his handle is on here though. Pretty sure Christian scored at least one hit on that target too?

Savage1 (Nick) got it with his 308 and Matt got it twice, not sure who else hit it. Know I danced all round the edges.

My only suggestion El B would be a few more if it was possible. Need all the practice I can get. Well run taking into considering the amount of people that turned up. Not much you can do about target failure with short notice knock ups.

Nic Chu(?) also got two hits on it. I was the last shooter and engaged the orange gong which was about 4 times the size and got that twice. I was pleased just to be getting near misses on the other (sub-MOA) gongs! I'd like to have seen 8" gongs for hunting profile rifles just to hear a few more clangs.

I remember days smashing those small gongs with multiple hits at 860 .... and multiple misses on other days --very awkward place to call wind!
