After a good light breathable base layer

    Hi all
I'm looking for a light weight base layer that I can hunt in
I'm a bush Hunter so it needs to be hard wearing. I also sweat like a bastard so it needs to be able to work the moisture away. Any recommendations? Was thinking about a stoney Creek air mesh shirt but if anyone has any better suggestions I'm all ears.

    Cheers

I just bought a bush buck armour shirt, it's quite light with canvas on the elbows and shoulders very comfortable, I reckon I'll give the short sleeve one a go too

I sweat like mad too and spent quite a bit of time looking for light long sleeve tops. I ended up with a Under Armour top and a Hunters Element one. Both are pretty good, HE one was Crux or something like that, UA one was quite cheap from H&F.

Cutting tracks use 2 Kathmandu on top of each other. Take a Dairytech top in Weka 40 carrying all fuel and tools. This is through tight thick
    scrub.

I've tried a number of different fabric types, including a lot of the new fandangaly ones. All have left me somewhat underwhelmed.

Now wearing MKM shearers singlets and tops. Both are awesome, should have switched to them sooner. Are cool in hot weather, especially when pushing up the steep stuff. Then warm in cold weather, if they get wet they stay warm. Awesome breathability and wicks moisture very well. Shearers quarters get up and above 30C in summer and they work just fine for them. Last they're tough as nails!

I've tried a number of the, including Under Armour Base 1 and 2 which are good but the base 2 are too hot and no one is bringing in the base 1 anymore so I have gone to Kuiu Marino 125grm I think awesome wicks well but not cheap.

Yep the MKM bush shirts/singlets are hard to beat, well priced, hard wearing, don't hold water when wet, but it is a slightly different feel with the thicker wool against the body which some may not like.

Cheers for the responses. Those Shearer's singlets might be the go.

+1 for the mkm have had them before and been impressed. Wear a vest as a base layer working on the ski field, long enough to tuck into your pants and kept your arse warm.

Got mine from the warehouse years ago and been keeping my eye open everything I go in since. Anyone found a source of them other than the above trade me links?

I prefer them to the likes of Thermatech, but the MKM gear isn't as hardy. Holes just seem to appear for no apparent reason.
Interesting, I thought it was the washing machine eating holes in them but maybe not....

I swear by the “Altica” fabric Ts and long sleeve Ts from Kathmandu.

I’m still wearing a couple I bought ten years ago.

Brilliant for wicking when you’re hot, functional as a good base when it’s cool and you’re layering up and provide good cover when it’s warmer

They don’t get smelly at all like the old poly-prop either.

    Plus they’re not too expensive

I've noticed that too. I think they use short staple wool and it dosen't hold together.
    Probably crutchings.
