Just found out the outfit that makes Columbia brand handles is no more, brought out by Seymour Handles who don't appear to export here. The best options look like either Tuatahi at $100, roll your own which is likely more than $100 worth by the time you fluff about finding them or Bahco branded handles which are imported Ash by the look of them. If you don't want an 800mm handle, well...

The Euro pattern handles look OK but are looking like the only available option that isn't supplied with the kid's head sized haft. Those mitre 10 handles look like they'd fit into a full sized head eye - sideways. They don't even look like they fit the same branded axe heads that they sit next to on the shelf! They look more like something that would go into a tack hammer rather than an axe...

These are great handles, pricey though. Made in Australia with local timber. Come with a roll pin and alloy wedge.

Saw those, dearer than Tuatahi though by the time you roll courier in. No really easy option, those Bahco ones are about half the price and a similar profile...

Almost look like the 7mm-08 to Tuatahi's .308 - ballistic twins... Have seen comment from overseas that they are considered equals in the wood and the grind and sharpening on each matters more.

Funny reading this thread as just today I put a 550mm Kanuka handle on a fencing hammer - a Cyclone 2 1/2 lb head.
Have never made a proper handle like that before, came out very well and very strong. Easy to shape with a flapper disk. A lot of Kanuka has a bit of bow sweep at the bottom to give it that Axe handle shape
