But out of the packable coats I'd pick the Stowit.
Capes are awesome for active hunting. Not so good if you are sit and glass type hunter.
A brimmed hat and large shoulder flaps keeps most of the water away.
I cradle my rifle across my front with my left arm. And it sits under the shoulder flaps, staying very dry.

Having had a stowit provided by work and a halo provided by me I would pick the halo every time

A few years ago i walked into the local Macpac store with the intention of buying a puffer jacket, but instead walked out with a Macpac Sabre jacket. Its a soft shell type jacket with a fleece lining on the inside ,hood ,all the pockets you'd want , only rated as shower/windproof but i've been in some steady rain for several hours and stayed completely dry . With the fleece lining its a warm jacket to put on around camp or glassing etc, fairly light at 600 grams . Its always in my pack or day bag and on sale they are around $150 i think. Another option worth considering !

I found these jackets to be great, fold up well so your more likely to take it, goes below your waist, wind proof, waterproof, and great value for money

So I bit the bullet and stumped up for the Swazi ultralight sentinel jacket using the nzda discount
I’ve been using it whilst walking the mutt for the last two weeks and it’s held up well considering the wet weather we’ve been having here in levin
Morning walks are two hours and it’s doing the job so far fingers crossed

I would hope it would hold up under those conditions.
I spent three weeks on a horse in Canada this time last year wearing a Stowit and Dreambull pants. They handled that treatment. Plus been my main wet weather hunting gear here since.
The same set is packed ready for round two in Canada soon.

I prefer the Macpac Zephyr lightweight raincoat. Paired with their pants they're bloody good. Just dont scrub bash with them.

I 2nd these too. I bought one as my easy hunt and share with the kids jacket to protect my expensive lightweight gear. Im bloody impressed with it for the price and weight.

That's what I ended up with.

I've used it for running and it breaths pretty damn well, no issues with it in rain, but it feels like matagouri would go through it like tissue paper. which, to be fair, applies to basically everything that isn't oilskin.

I have 2, a Rain Bird and a first light.
The Rain Bird is probably tougher being a coarser fiber weave and has better heat dumping zips under the arms,
The first light is lighter and has some soft touch fabrics at rub points around the neck, hood and cuffs and has a much better hood drawstring arangement etc. Fabric is much finer and has a membrain type coating. would not want to wear it in the gorse.
