No way you are spending 3-4 hundred on a phone to loose it or drop it so maybe @northdude samsung a10s might be my limit.

I've always had Samsung Galaxy and to be honest they are not that great I have had 3,5 and 6 and coverage was crap.
We moved house and my Samsung couldn't get signal most of the time so I changed to a Oppo and what a difference for a phone that is half the price if you are after a good cheaper phone they are awesome

Had several Galaxy S, the S, S4, S5, got sick of them and went back to Nokia. Cheaper than the popular brands too.

Samsung Xcover 4, waterproof, and bounces reasonably well if it is in a phone case/cover. reasonable camera.

No, @bigbear - you never show SWMBO the one you want. You show her the really expensive ones, then you buy the one that meets your needs!

Unless you know yourself that you're prone to dropping expensive kit, I just use a zip magic seal bag (sandwich size fits my phone). Costs a couple of cents and it's going to keep your phone dry. You can still use the screen through the plastic too. Small inconvenience mucking about if you're taking photos though.

As an aside on coverage, I have no recommendations on best phones for that, but my wife was at a first aid training course recently and learnt that if you need to make an emergency call its always worth trying your cell phone even if you don't see any reception bars on it. Emergency calls by default boost the power or whatever for the phone and any cell tower it can reach to maximum to hold a connection. I'd never heard of this before.

@bigbear .I have an xcover3. Am on 2*.Our arwa is marginal but its an ok ph and I have it in a protective folder and also a clear screen shield.
The only concern I have is it may not (like most others) be very secure privacy wise. The camera is ok but I have managwd ti scour the lens so pics are blurry now. I use it regularly to access this forum and google. It seems pretty weatherproof.

Habe had mine for over a year, it has survived being submerged in a pond for 2 hours and has been rinsed under the tap to wash off mud etc. on several occasions. Battery life isnt huge but obviously depends on usage. I use mine for emails etc daily as a work phone and at most only tend to get two days from a charge. It is in a rubberized case with a screen protector and I feel it is survivng well. I work outdoors and the phone does see a bit of a hard time.
