    DPT extra baffles

    Kiaora folks,
I'm a thinking of getting 4 or 5 extra baffles for my DPT suppressor (I'm using 308). Just want to make it easy as possible to step up to the big gun for my pooch as he's a bit gun shy.
Anybody bought extra baffles for their DPT suppressor? Is there much difference in sound levels and would you recommend it? It sucks there's no decibel readings for different configurations!
    Cheers
    Tom

Extra baffles do make a noticeable difference. I could not tell you db wise what rating is but you will notice it speaking from experience, other option is buy a dog muffs, its an actual thing

The closest you might get is a dBA reduction indication. Remember though that your 30 Cal can / baffles are made for all non-magnum .30 cal calibres... all doing different speeds, all with different loads. Remember also that a suppressor doesn't reduce the decibels of the supersonic crack of the pill.

Yeah but you don't really want to give your dog a complex as well as gun shy

    Hi all

One of the big problems is there is thousands of different configurations, its not just suppressor size that comes into play, and most guys wouldnt know how to relate db reduction to real world sound.

The best suggestion I have is shoot the rifle and suppressor with only two baffles a couple of times then shoot it with four baffles, that should give you some sort of idea what you could expect by adding two more baffles to your suppressor. Four more baffles makes quite a big difference

I have a std dpt on my .223 with a 20" barrel , happy as with sound reduction , Set up the T3 308 bushpig mainly for my son, during initial sighting in I felt even thru it was taking a fair whack of the bang out it still wasn't hearing safe or as quiet as other 308/303 combos i have seen, maybe short barrel length/ propellent still burning? . Brought 3 extra baffles , but fitting extra 2 was enough to make quite a noticeable difference. I think you would get to a point where the amount of noise reduction vs length/weight doesn't make it worth it, as you will always have the supersonic crack .

Our ridgeback dog likes coming with us hunting , as it knows a rifle means tasty meat , certainly no issues when using the 308 bushpig, I always make sure dog is sitting behind us as well .

You can also do the test with a pair of earmuffs on:
Shoot 1 round with no suppressor , then 1 round with suppressor with only the front capped baffle on, then 1 new round with each extra baffle .you will gradually appriciate more accurately the effectiveness of each extra baffle you add.
