    Dropped Maxtoch not working

My Maxtoch torch fell off my lap onto concrete when I got out of the car after my last night out. Only minor superficial scratches. Now won't go. Have tried several sets of batteries. Anybody know how sensitive led chips are or have any suggestions to fix it?

    Cheers

Very much depends where you bought it..... I would suggest going back to them as a first port of call

Thanks. I accept I dropped it and coupled with buying it from AliExpress recently I doubt there will be any (practical) warranty options available

Haha. It was turned off at the time so no smoke was released

Then probably your best bet will be finding a local sparky to at least trouble shoot it and see if worth fixing, this unfortunately is the downside to buying off of ali express and the likes, no local back up or warranty.... no hate I hope you get it fixed

Know anyone else with one? Try swapping the tail cap with one that works (least diagnoses the problem)

Yeah it may be in the tail cap. Try taking it off and making sure the spring is screwed all the way toward the back ( the switch end) of course it may have cracked a solder joint in the board.

The best guys to ask would be @gadgetman or @mudgripz

If anyone knows how to trouble shoot Maxtoch its those two....

Yeah that's what I've done Mauser when I've dropped mine a few times. Usually found it's come very slightly unscrewed at 1 end or the other. With the slightly longer Panasonic protected batteries there can be a fine tolerance and everything has to be screwed up nice and tight to make contact. The couple of times I thought mine was munted it came right after a tutu

Terrific, I split my one apart that was dropped last year and has not gone since.
No obvious fault with the circuit board or wiring.

Screwed it back together and hey presto it's now working !
Not ideal as I would have preferred to find a definite fault as no doubt will still let me down at the most inopportune time.
Saved me the cost of replacement for the time being though which is great.

Buy the nice pouch they fit into. Far less likely to drop one if you have a pouch on your belt to poke it back into

I prefer just clipping a lanyard to the tailcap. Hang it around your neck so it’s always in reach to grab, or you can drop and let it hang if you need your hand for something else.

Must be the reason it came with a spare.
