I have the etrex h model before that 1 that i think. Works fine no maps or anything just marks on blank screen. Does snail trails but turned that shit off and can't remember how to get it on again

Think the 10 has or can have simple topo map? Which would be handy

I have the 10. If you just want it to be able to mark points and do the odd backtrack in the dark it is fine. It is super compact which is handy. If you want to be able to view precise Topo maps and get hi tech it is probably not the best option
