Couple of years back I lost one of my Stoney creek gaiters in Urewera.
I e-mailed them direct asking to buy a single one to replace it, and the guy posted me a free replacement without question or proof of purchase etc. I was very impressed with that

Anyway, had a look at the repair and to be fair its a new dome and looks stronger that the factory chinese ones.
So its still under full warranty and i'll be keeping a close eye on them.
Be interested if anyone else has had any issues with stoney creek gaiters?

Im happy for now but im still of the opinion they should have replaced the items.
No problems with mine at all. i still think your ones should of been a straight swap for a new pair no questions asked. to be fair @Gibo you dont seem the sort to be a push over

Also the shop doesn't know whether the goods were truly faulty when sold or if the customer took them out and managed to break them first use, its your word against theirs (Im not saying that Gibo did this, but it does happen). This means there has to be some give and take from both parties to reach an agreement, rather then one party just bowing to the demands of the other as some of you blokes think should happen.
Under warranty it shouldn't effect the shop at all. if the manufacturer is that difficult to deal with people will just buy from the opposition

Your right it shouldn't, but its not necessarily the shops decision as to whether the product is under warranty. What happens if the shop replaces the product and the supplier says "No sorry thats not under warranty"?

That was their comment today, stoney creek are responsible to check the issue. I made it clear i wanted new not repaired goods. They then showed me the repair. I was happy with it I made sure when i left that any future issues with the gaiters would mean replacement and they were cool with that. Good fair outcome for both parties i gurss.

Took em back to where I got them and they got me to fill out a form to return to the workshop in Tauranga for repairs.
I said like fuck i dont want repaired goods I bought new. They said they will be like new and only take 2 days.
So its been about two weeks and still no sign.
I am tempted to get my coin back (not sure if I can since it was a voucher) and go elsewhere. "

The Consumer Guarantees Act will protect you Gibo. Ask for a new replacement pair.

ive had, seen and herd of so much stoney creek gear failing lately - its to the point where the only gear ill buy off them are there shorts and ammo pouches
Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

The nice thing here is that you Gibo acknowledged you were a little annoyed and wanted advice. The great thing to see has been the way you balanced your own annoyance with the advice given here by us. I applaud the call you've made that you're happy with the outcome, regardless whether this was strictly per your legal rights. Good on yer mate.

Cheers SiB. I must say I walked in there all puffed up but realised pretty quick the manager was on my side so to speak.

Fair call, i hadn't thought of that option. It may be viable with some of the brands with low demand, but shops need to stock what customers want. No point having a shop full of gear you cant sell.

This is a prime example of a brand that has a reputable warranty, wanting to assess the gear themselves. Does that mean the warranty is worth shit, and that the store should stop stocking the brand? If the store in question had replaced the gaiters outright then we would have the situation where it had cost the shop money, as Stoney Creek obviously wanted to repair the product on this occasion.

If i was a retailer in NZ i wouldn't even consider dropping a brand like Stoney Creek as it would have to be one of the biggest selling hunting brands in NZ.
