Next best (and legal) option are the Maxtoch 3400mAh batts - these are Panasonic 3400s rebranded. Lithium-ion batts can only be airfreighted now when inside a torch, so maxtoch have made a $2 el cheapo torch/tube thingy which qualifies - just. They send each pair inside its tube torch... and you can have several of these in one airfreight parcel.:

Aliexpress.com : Buy MAXTOCH 3400mAh Protected Pana Cell 3400 Protection 18650 Battery 2pcs from Reliable battery orange suppliers on EST GROUP Co., Ltd

If buying more than one pair you get discounts:

" Discount is offered as below---
    2pairs, 5% off
    5pairs, 8% off
    8pairs, 10% off

If 2 pairs or more are purchased, please do not pay for the order immediately. Contact us to revise the total amount please. After the total amount is deducted, the order could be paid and we'll ship the order as soon as possible. "

So if you want some batts the lady to contact is: amanda@maxtoch.cn

Is there any issue using 18650B batteries in the M24 ?

PANASONIC NCR18650B 3400mAh Rechargeable Battery | Trade Me
$14 each but they're in NZ so will actually get delivered relatively quickly.

I'd avoid them as they are unprotected and since the M24 can be used with a single cell there is a high probability you will run them too low.

Good to see some lower prices locally. These pana 3400s have been ridiculous - up to $35 a pair delivered here.

Clear night at last, so I'll pop out with the Maxtoch 2X shooter, latest m24 sniper, and previous version dedomed m24 sniper, and get some comparison beamshots.

    Holy crap!!

That is alot of light on target at 800m from both lights - and 2X quite bright at that distance. Not only shows the colour of the grass etc, the rocks, but also a rock or cattlebeast another 1-200 meters further back very clear.

Confirms our own findings - the earlier dedomed M24, upgrade M24 and 2X all put a helluva lot of light on target at 2-300m, and the key difference between the 2X and others is past say 400 or so. I do like this new upgrade M24 - all of them are HID class in a light handheld torch.

Looking at those pics you'd have no trouble picking up a red out past those rocks at 900 or so through a scope.

Great pics Q - can you do a youtube of them - be good to share..

@mudgripz - good spotting on the cows out at about 1000M. If they are looking at the lights, the eyes are really visible.

Unbelievable!!! 1000m and you could place your shot on the one that's out the back there. Awesome.

Tell you something else too - that back 1000m cattle beast is not centrebeam - its right on the edge. Would be alot clearer if it was centre spot ........

Q - what's your thoughts on the new 2X and upgrade M24 after testing? Bye-bye HID
