@StrikerNZ Will be interesting to get a beamshot comparison between this and the Maxtochs.
I find that being able to illuminate the target is only 1/2 the story. The other half is having enough oomph in your light to determine if there is anything in your firing zone beyond what you are shooting at.

Yes, 100% agree with you there.

I don't consider the C8 a direct rival to the Maxtochs (I have a couple of those too..), just filling a different role.

That said, inside 150 (or a bit further with the newer chips), the C8 has all the light you need and more.. Similar beam pattern to the maxtoch, nice and broad in the mid-ground but still with a very good spot. Still very impressive for the size.

The C8 is my favourite 'little' torch. Great wee walking-around torch, or when you don't really need to light up three ridges distant. Perfectly suited to use on a .22 or HMR.

    Something like this - https://www.fasttech.com/p/2648900

They're also available on Aliexpress, just make sure you get a smooth reflector version.
Thanks for the info, ill give the C8 a go, I presume I can just get a standard mounting onto the scope from Aliexpress as well?

Yep, one of the plastic figure-8 type mounts will work nicely with that. I think the maxtoch store on aliexpress has the right type..

You'll still need 18650 batteries and charger to go with the C8, but the setup cost will be a lot less in total than the big maxtochs..

Unsure what driver boards the C8s run now but when we last tested some they put out around 20-35k lux stock depending on model. Good for maybe 100m or so. Maxtochs are 305k (smaller M24) and 365k (2X) so huge range difference.

Little convoy good for shotties. If someone buys one lean on gadgetman and he might tweak it for you and we can see what they'll do these days. You can get them running to 100k+ lux but with their small head you have to drive them at v high current. Then downsides kick in - v short runtimes with the single batt and they heat up bad so we couldn't hold some after 10 minutes.

    If you want to go a bit more upmarket/pricey for your scope mount try these;

This bit for the scope - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...608.0.0.UCICYg

Get a couple of these if you only have a 1 inch tube - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4pcs...608.0.0.UCICYg

And one of these for the torch - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/30mm...608.0.0.UCICYg

For about $25 US you get a couple of torch mounts.

Find one with an XM-L2 emitter as they are for efficient from the testing we've done.

@mkm thanks for that. Any ideas to what all the options for the body are? I emailed them and their response was rather blunt.
    Cheers.

Go for the U2 1A and mode option 2, and de-dome it.

It will most likely be a torq T6. Try and back the battery tube out 1/2 to 1 turn.
