Had a good run out of my set of Stoney Creek Greywacke a few years ago, nice and light. New model $399, I used to think the same as you on price but you do get a better boot, Now i hunt almost every weeknd and prob average 50-60 hunts per year and look like i will get 2 yrs from my Lowa, Had 18 mths out of another brand and had to retire them due to a shonky repair. If with my current usage get 2 yrs out of some boots then that is $300-$350 per year. Longer would be better. Am going to try a slightly differnt style next tim e as they seam to wear in the same spot

I've got the Greywackes too, been good for me in the Central N.I for the last couple of years and I haven't treated them particularly well. That said, boots will always be a bit of a conundrum for me as they will spend a lot of time wet wading when I'm fishing in summer so it's a big ask to have something that will last and do both jobs...which is why I hesitate to spend big money on boots.

I must confess I am a bit tight that's why I hesitate on spending big on boots. but $4oo for a good pair of stoney creek boots is proberly not to bad.i might even try their $300 stalking boots. cheers jeff

Just worn through the aforementioned pair of Foxtrots.

Been fantastic. However I ended up wearing through the point just over my toe joints - and was initially a little iffy about their longevity - however, they are also a sub $200 boot - so can't expect them to wear like my Meindls.

Replaced them with a pair of the Delta Boots - bit more leather in them and should last a bit longer. However, heavier, and taller. I have also just picked up a pair of Adidas AX2 Mid GTX Shoes - goretex tramping boots essentially - as a lighter, dayhunt/range day boot.

Though, still think I might be heading back towards a pair of Meindl Island Pros - my original Meindls were Himalayas - awesome, but ridiculously heavy and overkill for what I hunting in.
