    here we go
    Topo Maps For Garmin GPS

I use these guys for updating the car gps.
They're up-to-date.... like weekly at times so if you want to find the latest subdivision, use them.
Only you guys will know re the topo's but I would bet they'll be in the same situation.
Lots of good info here about, gps-ish stuff too.

however, I'm guessing I bypassed the LINZ stuff as this was easier to utilise for me.

The NZ Open GPS Project is primarily about up to date street maps. They are updated weekly.

You CAN get older versions of Mr Purple's topo maps from that forum, but they're a few years old now, and there's more fuck-around factor involved in installing them. He stopped giving them out free at about version 12. He's selling version 17 now. They are only updated every few months at best, partly because the underlying topo data doesn't change often, and partly because it takes yonks to recompile the maps.

    Hi all,
I've got mr purples topo maps on my Garmin etrex 20. Does anyone know how to get the doc boundary overlay? I went to an old download link but it seems to have expired.

DOC Open Permit Hunting Areas https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2...nVtU2I1S2E4NzQ

    All DOC areas: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2...nM0RGRFMjdHWmc

They are a couple of years old now, so no guarantees about their accuracy. Check specific areas of interest against the latest boundaries on the DOC website - some hunting areas may have been added/removed.

As an aside. What do you think of the Garmin etrex 20? I'm thinking of getting one.

Awesome. They're well within my budget and seem to get good reviews. So I'm keen to know. 👍
