It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

    Will weigh it next time.

What I did find out though is that the new Cascades are not a patch on the old ones. Leaked badly (my bad I didn’t use a pack liner) and the elastic straps on the outside came to bits. The harness length adjustment buckle is a nightmare to adjust with wet/cold hands.

Nah. Every now and again I could catch the aroma from the Palmy MacDonalds on the breeze, so I just followed that.

Nice light pack Tahr, sensible gear list covering food, warmth & safety........i find older buggers like ourselves (even though im still a pup at 56!) have what they need 'down pat' as experience from previous decades kicks in......

mines very similar, i take already cooked thick/chunky soups in a plastic bag (vacuum sealed) as you can eat them cold if your cooker packs a sad! takes very little gas to warm up,

HAVE to have a hot drink in the morning to get me started!!!!!!

good thread for newbies starting out.....we all take the 'kitchen sink' when we start out, it gets lighter & lighter as the trips get longer....for me the 'article' has to perform at least 2 jobs, or its gets left behind.....

ive converted over to titanium too....and merino base layers, warm when wet.....its the mutts nuts
While I might not be as good as I once was, Im as good once as I ever was!
