GME or Uniden UHF Truck CB

    Hey Peeps,
What's your experience with either brand UHF 5W radio, cab mounted. Looking at finally getting one for my Safari. Always just used the hand held but it's time for an install.
Guys I know have lately bought the GME XRS type, but yet to hear any reports from them.
I've always been a Uniden bloke & the new Xtrac80 looks pretty good, but do I need top end? I will definitely go compact with all function mic.
    Cheers...

I have used a Uniden Sundowner UH100 in my 4wd for nearly 30 yrs, it's been brilliant and works extremely well in open country and bush. I've been a member of a local 4wd club for the same time. Mine is old school so 40 channel, the more modern units are smaller, 80 channel and imo a Uniden is now just as good as a GME and vice versa.

One vote each. I've done plenty of reading and it seems they are both pretty respected, both have a 5 year warranty as well. @ROKTOY what do you run mate?

Base unit in the 4WD is an Oricom.
I have both Unidens and GME handhelds, i think the GME is more robust

Base unit wise, either are good. A good aerial, cable, and earthing have more influence on good signal etc.
