What pissed me was when I lived in Oz you could buy some Kiwi made products cheaper there than at home. eg Lawnmowers (back in the days when good Kiwi made lawnmowers existed), milk powder. I don’t know if examples still exist though.
Spending the extra to buy local made is something I am all for (as long as the quality/longevity is there) but by how much do we subsidise the export market in so doing.
Cup wing calls guy (can't remember name and don't think its Drake)
Wear On Earth - Damn fine down gear.
Home : Wear On Earth - NZ-made Down Jackets and Vests
Barnard actions.
Bill Nikl knives. Damn they are nice. Have 3 need more.
So many brands abandoning their country of origin. What a f**king disgrace. One that really gets my goat is Icebreaker now all their tops shrink. @Tikka7mm08 I have one of Bills little knives made from D2 low chromium tool steel I got it at a knife show in AKL many years ago.
Yes still uses D2. Used one on a little Fallow this week...such a pleasure. 2 of them came with beautiful steels in sheaths beside the knife.
I know, my wife used to manage a Swandri outlet store in chch, I have many jerseys from just before they went to china and a couple that were early chinese manufacture. Needless to say the Chinese versions have a lot more stitching problems like holes appearing in pockets and keep getting those loose lengths of thread that wrap around your knees or down your neck.
And one of my mates used to shag Davey Hughes daughter in Levin, so he got given the job as head of international sales for Swazi. He just thought it was a great way to pick up chicks when he got the business card out, wouldn't see that in an overseas company.
Its a shame the owner of Cactus Outdoor is a bit of a D-bag because they have some good gear but id hate to think im putting money in his pocket by purchasing it.
Ill stick to Stoney Creek gear, wherever that comes from?
