Go for a Garmin. Simply for the reason that the good fellas over at nzopen will help you with free maps and upgrades.

Everyone will harp on about the 62 and the 62s, they are good tough units but the user interface is no way as good as the touch screen models like the Oregons imho. They are just not as intuitive to use. The screen resolution isnt as good either. The downside is that these use slightly more battery power and you have to look after the touch screen.

This is a great deal guys. I paid almost three times that for my 60CSX when they first came out.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Wet, snow, doesn't matter. I have been using an Oregon for 3 yrs now.

All I would say is definitely buy it with a screen protector film (about $10).

It's horses for courses really, go into the store and try them side by side is my advice.

This may be dumb but if you had blood on your hands and it got on the screen and dried up will it still work properly or would you have to take off the screen protector?

You would lick the screen protector clean with your tongue, then sweet as, back to normal

    Screen protectors:
    Amazon.com: Lexerd - Garmin Oregon 550t 200 300 400i 400c 400t TrueVue Anti-Glare GPS Screen Protector: GPS & Navigation

They're just very thin plasticy film things. Peel off the backing, drop them on, they're almost invisible. Leave 'em on there for a year or so. Re-do once the protector gets all scratched up
