Looking to upgrade my GPS, just had a look online I can get a gpsmap 64s out of the US for about $400NZ landed. PB tech was doing them for for NZ388 but they are out of stock. Anyone aware of any good deals on these locally?
Cheers in advance

Arguing with an Engineer is like Wrestling a Pig in Mud.
After awhile you realise the Pig loves it.
PB Tech don't include a map
You may find the $500 ones have a map making PB Tech quite a bit more expensive once
I was going to try the free topomaps from here NZ Open GPS Project I have some old GTmaps GTMaps - Garmin Topo maps of New Zealand on CD which were fine on my map76s anyone still using GTmaps?
Garmin bundled topomaps for nz bush is not great nor worth it (have no idea for the rest of nz streets). Stick to your open GPS Project. It even has corrected doc track locations that others and printed topo's don't.

These are genuine, and quick delivery.
I'm not sure why people charge so much for NZ map data when it's free public data.
Beware the parallel importers I bought a garmin650 off them a few years ago .. it blew a foofoo first time out took it back they sent it away , two months later they decided to replace it. Stick with the suppliers that source from Garmin nz , much more likely to get better aftersale service (if needed)
Mr Purple charges what he does because Garmin uses a proprietary file format for their maps. It's not simple to convert and compile the free map data into that format without paying the $US5000 ANNUAL licencing fee to Garmin to be able to use their software. He's spent a lot of time and effort figuring out how to do it from scratch over the last 7 years or so. Money well spent to support a kiwi guy doing this in his spare time.
Are the mr purple maps any better though than the open source maps which look pretty good, ? Tony at KiwiGPS loads these on GPSmap 64S when he sells them so they must be OK?
Mr Purple's topomaps ARE the opensource ones, he's simply stopped making the latest version publicly available, as he's trying to make a bit of money for the time and effort he's spent. The older versions are still available free, but installing them is a fuckaround.

Mr purple sells on trademe, or you can contact him directly. mrpurplenz@gmail.com
He also has a website under construction - not sure if the online purchasing is working yet.
Either way, it's $65. Includes DOC boundaries and hunting areas. Take a look at his website for screenshots.
