One thing I picked up from somewhere was that if you take a tumble you quite often lose your backpack so it’s good to have emergency stuff and PLB on a belt, which you basically never take off while in the bush. Don’t really know how much merit there is in that. I’m off to the SI for a hunt next week and planning to take only the main pack and a belt with PLB knife and emergency stuff in a pouch. Will day hunt with the main pack but strapped down. Idea being to save weight in the walk in not having to carry a day pack. Usually I carry a day bag in of some sort so this will be an experiment.
That's basically what I have. Mini molle Belt with pouch for plb survival blanket couple rounds lighter and a bandage. GPS is pouch and knife. Then the pikau carries lunch and a jacket jumper or whatever. Work well
