Where did you get the pen flares ChrisF? I haven't seen those since living in Canada.

Just saw the comment about the north hemisphere compasses , thats actually RIGHT .

They do make compasses for different parts of the world , and I think its all about how the needle is weighted/balanced , so it does not tip up or down when in level use , my understanding ii , its different between the north & south hemispheres

But you should be able to find something similar at a boatie place , my old man had a version of it , that held the pen and about 6x flares in a rubber pack .
