the kelly emblem should be on left hand side but they seem to be widely varied as to what they are stamped
So, you have my attention. Wouldn't the power tool attachments be a bit harsh on the brand marks?. This axe was gifted to and has a lot of sentimental value. Is it worth the effort to get it looking new or just restore it to look natural. At wood chopping events the axes look like chrome
racing axes are highly polished so they come out of the cut well and cut in well - no just give it some light sanding to keep rust of - especially avoid blurring the stamps on it
I would be comfortable with a cup brush with straight wires in an angle grinder to knock any really bad corrosion off, note this isn't a coated wire or twisted bristle wire buffing wheel just a bog standard screw on cup brush. Once you've knocked the worst of the rust back, a 3M scotchbrite disc (the green one only) will get a bit of a shine back and then you can corrosion treat any pitting and then think about sharpening it.
Don't go near it with power tools like grinding discs or sanding discs as these will heat the metal up and also stuff any stamps. Just go lightly, you'll quickly get a feel for what will work and what won't. A wire brush into the eye of the head to knock anything off there if you take the handle out will sort that. The only issue with heat is near the cutting edge where it's thinnest, you can soften the thing and then you need to reharden it which is a pain of a job to be fair.
The other thing with race axes, they are all new so haven't had time to get rusty!!!
I did the ones shown above just before photo with the plastic rust removing wheel on angle grinder.i assure you no heating was happening until I touched my thumb lol

Haha, good for cracked heels you reckon?
ha ha remember blood stains like hell
all my research on Kellys has shown stamps differ but worlds finest is a kelly trademark I had several in my collection but as I said all of mine have gone to good homes
Apparently these were the ones exported to Aussie before Kelly entered the agreement to have them locally produced in Aussie. Hence the "Made in Canada" on one side, and the World's Finest Kelly Dandenong on the other (Dandenong definitely not being in Canada!).
Heap of history on the web, https://www.yesteryearstools.com/Yes...Hoe%20Co..html
That's why I took photos of both sides of mine lol
