Wife wants to have a go at making her own knife at the Barrytown Knife Making.
Anybody out there had a go at this at Barrytown?

‘Many of my bullets have died in vain’
We haven't but know a few that have including a legally blind work colleague of the wife and they all rave about it.
Interestingly the guy who does it is Dutch and Dutch for knife man is Mesman which was my wife's maiden name, her being of Dutch parents.
Yup, did it a few years back with both my boys, and with a mate and his 3 kids. Excellent day, well presented. A lot to take in in one day but it gave us an insight in to what is required and we all went home with a pretty decent knife. Well worth the money.
As above, few years ago now but worth the coin
did it here in Geraldine at forge n blades, thouroughly enjoyed the whole process...and the home made pizza lunch.
would love to do it again at later point.

We took our Dad there for his 70th bday. We went in June 2008 and there was just the 3 of us plus one other. Had a great day. Go there with some designs in mind.
Mate and I were shouted there for Fathers day last year. Pissing down rain so they offer raincoats that are primarily used as spider homes.
Coffee and Toastie sammys offered for lunch and a beer at the end of the day.
He is a hard case, expect the mickey to be taken.
He does a bit more of the knife making than I was expecting but it a neat day out.
Ask him about what cars and bikes he has hidden in the sheds.
We got offered Barrytown champagne at the end.
Sadly our schedule means we miss out on knife making this time - but we will definitely do it another time, thanks for all the comments guys, very encouraging!

Well me, Mrs Finnwolf and Finnwolf jnr went there on Saturday, brilliant weather and what an experience, starting with a bar of raw steel and ending up with a nice knife is not a small undertaking (a long day) but it sure as hell was satisfying.
Steven the knife making instructor is a hoot, quick with the smart humorous comments (but never put anybody down!) and certainly knows his stuff and has traveled a way more than you would think.
His other half Robyn was also great, helpful and quick with advice.
His hobby cars were also a surprise, not what you’d expect!
The whole deal was well run but in a relaxed informal way, would recommend..
