I would recommend the Yukon gear over the Chugach. The Yukon is harder wearing and will survive longer in NZ conditions. The Chugach is strictly rain gear and will get torn up pretty quick in the bush and mountains.

Im currently looking at the Yukon jacket and the chinook. Though the Chugach is something i would look at as well. Anyone got both the yukon and chugach which do you rate better?

Well the yukon gear gets the big tick from me. After 4 days in the Alps in knee deep snow majority of the time I was pretty happy to say I was completely dry at the end of every day. Even with a number of river crossings.Yukon jacket and pants are awesome and The yukon gators are by far the best I've ever used. Mate was head to toe in hunter's element xtr gear whick also performed pretty well but didn't quite keep him completely dry after day 2.(he also taped his gators top and bottom for the deeper river crossings) only thing I found was that the pockets are quite small in the yukon jacket, but there are plenty of them so wasn't any real drama

Couple of three days in the bush wearing the merino tops (145 and 210) and they were really good. Cut well and really good movement. I can see some more Kuiu orders going out from me. They are also doing shorts now so I guess Ill get a pair of them for summer. The Guide Jacket came with me but was too pretty to wear

What sort of noise levels do you guys get from the Kuiu gear? Keen on some for bush bashing.

The attack pants are very quiet in the bush, they have held up good aswell where others have failed.

My guide jacket finally turned up while I was away.
I like it but took 8 months to get here. Still waiting on my gators ordered at tge same time ha ha
Got free shipping g for both because of the wait so can't complain about customer service.

I haven't used the jacket yet. Fit is good and I do not think there would be much of an issue with noise in the bush.
Sneeze has one and rates it as the best bush jacket he has had.
I bought mine on that advice.
Thinking of getting one of their down jackets and gloves as well.
    They may have stock now.
They were very good at keeping contact reference my order and free shipping due to the delay was worth it imo.

I'll show ya the down jacket sometime. I want to get the synthetic version. Bruce has a heap of there gear for guiding them, the synthetic jacket is the business.

Will it pack down like a down jacket?
I have a Swazi one that packs down to nothing.
Synthetic will be heavier as well?

I'll take a pic of both them together, got to go see him in the next few days. The selling point is you can wear it while moving as its not coated and has pit zips etc so gets the heat out and doesn't get buggered by water like the down eventually does. The superdowns just cook ya when moving but are so good for glassing in the shade for tahr etc.

Yup I tend to feel the cold a bit more working in PNG.
I like down and do tons of glassing cold spots.
