Maxtoch - issues with different batteries....

For the last 3 or 4 hunts I've been trying to ascertain why my Maxtoch turns off randomly - been trying all kinds of things.
Finally I've worked out that no matter what spacers or tube length adjustments I make it only likes one brand of battery and the tube fully tightened. My original Ultrafires and new Panasonics are useless

    So the winner is:
    TF18650 Trustfire
    3000 mAh
    1.8mm diameter
    just over 6.8 mm long

I can find more of these on Aliexpress - anyone had success at getting batteries from there lately, or is it still a drama?

    cheers
    @

I got some from here a few months ago.

TrustFire Protected 18650 3.7V Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries (Pair) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

The Panasonics can be a pain as they are way over spec for length but I've got them working by unscrewing the battery tube from the head by a turn or two. Done right up they seem to put too much pressure on the tail cap/switch.

Hmmmm even my shorter original Ultrafire ones give me grief - they are my originals that I've used successfully in all my 18650 torches over the years.
Got warning on that DX link - "Due to new airline safety regulations announced by the ICAO, shipping of “pure power” products to your shipping address is not allowed. SKU:120476"

I'll see if Aliexpress is any better.

Ultrafire are generally not a well regarded battery. I do use those Trustfires a lot but lately I've been using the Panasonics with no issues. I've got another batch of Panasonics from GearBest due in a few days. I seem to get very lucky and have had no issues getting them.

Javelin - what model maxtoch do you have? The M24 Sniper and new 2X normally work perfectly with maxtoch/panasonic 3400 batteries. Are your panasonics protected button tops or are you using flat-tops?

223 - if maxtoch did not include batts you paid for email amanda: amanda@maxtoch.cn
