I should qualify what I said about Terra Nova: part of the problem with my tent (Solar Competition) was that the model is discontinued. TN would have sent me a new set of poles if they had had them in stock (for a fee), but they didn't have any. I also have a Terra Nova Quassar Lightweight 2 person and its a fantastic tent - never had any trouble with it including 10 days in Fiordland.
Right so they blew apart in the wind, thought you meant from your first comment that they just broke during setup or leaked from new. Makes you wonder how windy it was at the time, (lightweight 3 season tent) were the guy lines set out and tensioned correctly, were the pole ferrules all snugged up.
I've had a few tents with bent poles over the years (pushing them too hard in wind they weren't designed to withstand) but "touch wood" nothing with snapped poles.
I guess they were all set up correctly, it seems to be a common theme with MSRs that they don't stand up to much wind compared to some other tents of a similar design so there is possibly better choices for open tops hunting, I'm pretty sure @BRADS had a carbon reflex that shit itself in the wind also?
The quasssar that @Tahr has are a bloody good tent, spent a week stuck up on the tops in Westland in a blowing gale that wouldn't let up and a couple feet of snow in one and it would have to be the most stable tent I have come across, you couldn't have thrown much worse at it and we felt safe in it the entire time
Have heard those are great tents Ryan but are we comparing a 4kg 4 season mountain tent and a 1.5kg 3 season tent for performance in the wind?
I have bought a zempire atom and a Nature hike Tagar - copy of an exped. Will see what they are like with a couple of overnight trips.

ive got a drifter tent from dwights outdoors probably not exactly what your looking for but they appear to do some hard testing on their gear before they decide to sell it
I have the naturehike curris 2. Have had ut in some serious wind and she has held up fine no leaks yets, very light weight for the size of it. Fits myself my gear and a dog in easy, 2 pple be cossy but still fine. Only thing is the pegs are very light alloy and to short so replace them with longer stronger ones and cant complain for the price. $280 mine was at the time through bushbuck, but that was not long after that model come out so could be cheaper now.
The new macpac Duolight looks good, anyone tried it?
