Thread: New Garmin GPS map trouble

Hi team,

So replaced my old Garmin Oregon 550 with the new Oregon 650. Love the new touch screen, faster and smother than the old ones (which made me say prior to buying i'd never get another touch screen hand held).

BUT I loaded my fresh maps onto the micro SD and my Hunt and Fish maps but it wont read the fresh maps??? Anyone else had this?
I took the card out and put it into my mates 450? and the fresh map and hunt and fish is on the card and works mint.

Got me stumped. I do have the hunt and fish maps but would like to have the option to use my fresh map.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Oh and I have created a GARMIN folder on card prior to moving over so that one is ticked off.
Maybe Fresh maps are no longer compatible with new Garmin?

Nah not yet. Im gona grab the card out of TSK's Garmin (copy of my one) and see what that comes up with. If the fresh map on there loads on my device it must mean my card has a f*&ked copy.
Will eliminate that then see what happens. End of the day I still have hunt and fish maps but would rather fresh maps.

Gibo . The file that you called garmin that the maps go in must be spelt correctly and have a capital G or it wont work.
Try to cut and paste the file name off the file in the gps memory to the file in the card!

Thats not quite right mate. My folder is "garmin" in lower case. The map doesnt show up on my unit but same card in a 450 its there.
Might just try your card on Thursday bro

Random... Mine has a capital G and wont work with out it. Im calling it to Te Puke in the morning will drop mine off! (if I remember)

Yep my folder is "Garmin" with a capital G too.

Fresh maps works well in my Rhino's

Got me super fucked. Might rename the folder with a capital G and see what that does

Meh..... renames to Garmin......copied to pc...formatted card...copied back to sd......bugger this shit i'll wait for TSK to bring his around and fix it once and for all!!

Have you enabled the maps on the gps??
From memory its setting/ maps/freshmap / enable.

In saying this you taught me this one! if you cant figure this one out then it will be way above my pay grade!!!

Yeah thats the issue, its not there to enable, but is on my mates. Will wait till we have a play with yours
