I also use a small section of foam mat plus a an approx. 1x1m piece of building paper (Tyvek) under that. Works great giving me a dry place to sit that weighs bugger all, also good for standing on when getting out of the tent to put my boots on.

Have recently upgraded my piece of warehouse roll mat cutoff that got a bit too torn up to one of these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005269300141.html

I'll remind her that she is very short and doesn't need a long mat. In fact, I've done her a favour because it's less to carry around now. Do you think it will go well for me?

I've found another use for it too. I take care of the fish I'm going to release.

I had a pair of those fleece pants with a waterproof membrane in the seat. Horribly noisy to walk in and sweaty as. I use a small square of foam mat to sit on - just roll it up and stuff it in side of the backpack when not in use. Also good for standing on in the morning getting dry socks and boots on when the ground outside the tent is wet.

These go alright for shorts, Huntech - High Country & kakariki (cammo) colors have a seam sealed dry seat lining.

tube of silicone and some kerosene, 1 part silicone to 3 parts kerosene turns into a thick paste paint on whatever you want waterproofed - job done worked on me for tents, ground mats hunting bags etc
kero evaporates and leaves the silicone

I had a set of maybe hunters element pants with a waterproof seat in them, I reckon that my ass was wetter from sweating while i was walking than from sitting on the ground.

I've got some huntech fleece pants with dry seat in the bum area. They are ok on cold days but sweat up when you start warming up. Foam mat is the answer.

I have a spare dry bag in my pack. It doubles as a dry place to sit, or garbage bag, or game bag, or whatever.

Kero or turps? I used turps and it was quite a thin mixture, but effective..
